The VIMA 2026 season officially kicks off this February. We are looking for the most authentic sounds from the heart of the region.

* Submission Window: January 31st – March 1st, 2026 (Closing at 11:11 PM ).

* Eligibility Period: Any music or video released between January 1st, 2020 and December 31st, 2025.
* Eligible Regions: Primary focus on Malaysia 🇲🇾, Singapore 🇸🇬, and Brunei 🇧🇳.
* Languages: No barriers. We want your authentic sound in any language.

* Cost: Entering VIMA 2026 is FREE.

Required Submission Materials:
* Artist Profile: A professional bio (Solo, Duo, or Band).
* Media Links: Public links to your tracks (Spotify, SoundCloud, Bandcamp) or Music Videos (YouTube).
* Visuals: Up to 10 high-resolution promotional photos.
* Social Media: Links to active Instagram or Facebook profiles.

⚖️ Rules & Regulations
1. Residency and Eligibility
* International Artists: Musicians from outside the core regions are eligible if they have resided in Malaysia, Singapore, or Brunei for at least 3 years and show proof of intent to stay for a further 2 years.
* The 50% Rule: For groups, at least 50% of the primary participants must be residents. VIMA also recognizes artists with long-term professional ties to these countries.

2. Technical Submission Standards
* Public Links: All song and video links must be set to Public. If a song cannot be made public for valid reasons, an MP3 file may be sent to the official email.
* Credits: All entries must include full credits: featured acts, producers, DJs, and any samples used. You must also state if the song is a remix or a cover.
* Multi-Category Entry: Artists may submit as many songs as they wish across as many categories as are applicable.

3. The AI Clause
Transparency is vital. Any song created using AI software at any stage must be declared upon submission. While VIMA allows AI at the ideation stage, we encourage the completed song to be non-AI linked. Failure to disclose may result in disqualification.

4. Independent vs. Mainstream
VIMA accepts entries from independent musicians, mainstream acts, and independent artists distributed by major labels. However, a preference for fully independent talent remains a core theme during the nomination stage.

* Amanda Imani (Malaysia/Global): A former VIMA winner and BrandLaureate recipient, Amanda has performed from Cannes to LA.
* Moonshyne Brown (USA): A Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum producer known for his work with Ludacris and Curtis Mayfield.
* Ritnika Nayan (India): A veteran who has worked with Guns N’ Roses, Nickelback and Maroon 5; she currently leads India’s music distribution for Downtown Music Holdings.

🏆 The Judging & Awards Process
VIMA utilizes a multi-tiered scoring system:
* 10% Social Media Engagement: Measuring fan interaction across platforms.
* 30% Public Vote: Where the community decides.
* 60% Global Judges: Professional evaluation from the panel above.

The Awards: Most categories feature Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards. One Crystal Award is issued per winning act (two for Best Collaboration). All judges’ decisions are final.

1 Can I submit a song that was released in 2020?

Yes. Our eligibility window covers January 1st, 2020, to December 31st, 2025.

2. Is there a limit to how many categories I can enter?

No. You may submit as many songs as you like into as many categories as are relevant.

3.Will there be an Awards Night with performances like previous years?
The execution of a physical event depends on the VIMA business team engaging and securing major sponsors. Historically, VIMA has utilized two formats:
* Large Scale Awards: A full-band, high-production event catering to over 1,000 exclusive guests including nominees, winners, fans, and celebrities.
* Micro-Awards: A minimalistic, intimate setting (20 to 200 guests) focusing on acoustic sessions and live digital broadcasts.

4. What exactly is a “Guaranteed Nomination” in the Early Bird phase?
Think of it as a “fast-track” for exceptional quality. If you submit between February 1st and February 14th and your work is of an undeniable standard, the judges may grant you an early nomination. This allows you to begin your PR and fan-engagement campaigns weeks before the general shortlist is announced, giving you a significant head start in the social media engagement scoring (which accounts for 10% of your total).

5. Does VIMA take any ownership of my music or royalties?
Absolutely not. VIMA is a platform for recognition, not a label or publisher. You retain 100% ownership of your intellectual property. By submitting, you only grant VIMA the right to use your provided media (audio/video/photos) for promotional purposes related to the 2026 awards season.

6. Can I enter a song that has already won awards elsewhere?
Yes. As long as the song was released within the eligibility window (Jan 1st, 2020 – Dec 31st, 2025), it is eligible for VIMA 2026. We celebrate the continued impact of independent music,
regardless of its history in other competitions.

7. How will I know if I’ve been nominated or won?
* Nominees: Will be announced via our official social media channels and website in mid-March 2026. You will also receive an official “Nominee Digital Badge” via email.
* Winners: Will be revealed either prior to the Awards event (online) or during the VIMA 2026 Awards Ceremony (format TBD). All winners will receive a formal notification email before the event to coordinate the delivery of trophies and certificates.

8. If I win “Best AI Song,” will I be judged differently?
Yes. The Best AI Song category is judged on the creative synergy between human input and AI tools. The judges will look at how the AI was used to enhance the artistic vision, rather than replacing it. Transparency in your submission about which AI tools were used (e.g., for mastering, stems, or composition) is mandatory.

9. I’m a Malaysian artist living in London. Am I eligible?
Yes. If you hold a passport from Malaysia, Singapore, or Brunei, you are eligible regardless of where you currently reside. The residency rules (3 years+) only apply to international/non-citizen artists looking to represent the region.

10. Is there a “Social Media Engagement” minimum to win?
No. While social media interaction makes up 10% of the score, the heavy lifting is done by the Global Judges (60%). A song with lower “hype” but incredible technical and artistic merit can still win Gold based on the judges’ scores.

When sending your email, ensure your Spotify or YouTube links are not private. Judges often review tracks on the go; if they encounter a “Private Video” or “Password Required” wall, it may delay your vetting process or result in your entry being skipped.
